Get vaccinated for your mental health

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is encouraging eligible Australians and New Zealanders to go out and get vaccinated for COVID-19.

RANZCP President, Associate Professor Vinay Lakra says that COVID-19 vaccination is important for both your physical and mental health.

‘If you can get vaccinated, do it sooner rather than later as it is essential to moving toward to a more COVID-normal way of life,’ said Associate Professor Lakra.

‘The last 12 months have had an immense impact on the mental health and wellbeing of our community.

‘We won’t be able to protect our family, friends, loved ones and community unless we put our hand up to be vaccinated.

‘There are a lot of mixed messages out there around the efficacy and safety of the vaccines, but it is important that you get the right information from reliable sources.

‘We understand that these are uncertain times. If you have concerns around the vaccine, please talk to your GP.

‘The recent cluster in Melbourne is just another reminder that those who are eligible to be vaccinated, should do so.

'COVID-19 vaccinations save lives - as has been evident from the experience in many other countries.’
