Accessible mental health information for your patients
The Your Health in Mind website has been developed to provide the general public with clear, accessible mental health information, written in plain English.
With consumers increasingly turning to websites for health information, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is aiming to meet the need for a credible, evidence-based mental health resource.
This website provides fact sheets on:
- mental illnesses
- treatments including medications, psychotherapy and ECT
- psychiatrists and psychiatry
- navigating the mental health system, including who's who in mental health, private health insurance, and staying in a psychiatric hospital
- how to get help.
Choose between easy-to-use web pages, or download print-friendly PDFs.
Information you can trust
The information has been developed in close consultation with psychiatrists who are experts in particular areas of mental illness. The information has been reviewed, checked and approved by a panel of subject matter experts.
People with experience of mental illness have also contributed their considerable expertise.
Much of the information in the fact sheets on this website is based on the RANZCP clinical practice guidelines.
This site is produced by the RANZCP. It does not include advertising, and does not endorse commercial products. The RANZCP has received Australian Government funding under the Specialist Training Program.
Information will be regularly updated and new topics will be added over time.
Help to find the right psychiatrist
Find a Psychiatrist provides a searchable directory of psychiatrists working in various subspecialties throughout Australia. Search by location, subspecialty, gender, language spoken and more. Information about New Zealand psychiatrists will be added in future.
