General term used to describe medical help or advice provided by videoconference.

Seeing a psychiatrist over the internet, using videoconference software.

therapist

Someone who provides psychological treatments. There are many types of therapists, with different levels of training, skills and experience.

therapy

A course of treatment that helps someone recover from being unwell.

trauma

An emotional response to a deeply distressing event.

treatment order

When a person is kept in hospital (if necessary) and treated, even though they say they don’t agree to it, under the Mental Health Act that applies where they live.

treatment plan

A plan for the management of a mental illness.

trigger

Something that brings back the feelings, thoughts and experiences of past trauma, or something that causes symptoms to re-occur.
